Nissan Mixim

This is Nissan’s latest electric prototype, dubbed “Mixim”. This vehicle is fully electric, with lithium-ion batteries, and two sets of “supermotors”, giving the Mixim four-wheel drive.
The Mixim is among many electric cars we’ve seen recently, most notably the Tesla Roadster features in this year’s INDEX awards. All these eco-friendly cars seems to point to a growing green trend in the automobile sector, and could clear the way for alternative-energy cars to become mainstream in the near future.
Certainly not hurting electric car interest is the incredibly cool designs being featured on these cars. Not only do they look like million-dollar Ferraris or some futuristic prototype, but the inside of the car is being rethought as well.
The Mixim features a different passenger layout than what you might be used to. The driver now sits in the middle of the car, with a passenger slightly back on either side, and another behind the driver. Pretty brilliant as I can’t count the number of times I think I’m about to sideswipe something (…although it kind of ruins the 60’s movie romance having your sweetheart sitting next to you).
The controls in the car are looking more and more like a video-game. The steering wheel looks like a controller, there’s lots of cool graphics on the dash, and of course, your speed is digital. I imagine all this would make you feel so much cooler driving it, but you’re always susceptible to forgetting you’re actually doing this in real like.
Overall I think it’s great that car companies are taking interest in green cars and eco-friendly technology. Cars have been steadily improving in efficiency, and we’ve seen great results with hybrids, but there’s still that link to gasoline. The electric car has been improving greatly and once big business gets behind it, it can’t be far off!
