How much does it suck when you’re out and about, without power, and your beloved devices start to die?

Well luckily, one of the most popular uses for green energy has become charging the multitude of devices many of us now own. You’ve likely got at least the iPod, cellphone, laptop, and digital camera, now they can all use to sun for power!

There’s a whole bunch of solar-powered chargers available, we’ve covered the Solio charger previously, but the solar powered backpack product goes one step further.

This is the Voltaic Backpack

.

Integrated into the backpack is 3 solar panels on the outside, and an lithium battery to store excess power.

The system generates about 4 watts of power, and it’s not quite enough to charge a laptop, but a cellphone will charge in about 5 hours.

Unlike most chargers however, there’s no need to get out your solar panels, set them all up and wait for your devices to charge. The backpack has then integrated right into the back pocket of the backpack, so your devices can charge on-the-go.

No set up, just plug in and go!

While we still haven’t seen the ultimate solar charger quite yet (most can’t charge larger devices such as laptops), but the efficiency is slowly improving and we think there’s going to be great things to come!
